INTERIORS
My “official” entrance into the world of interior design started when I began to absorbe the elegant architecture and design of local lodges, wine farms, and houses. Here, and for me unexpectedly, I have found a country full of style and sheer sophistication; heaven for a creative person who admires good design and beautiful interiors. I simply love to get completely submerged in my projects and completely devoted to an end-product I can be proud of.
I would describe my style as coastal-casual, with spacious but functional solutions that are well-appointed. Sometimes more is more, and other times less can really be more.
Charming house in the vineyards with the ocean’s breeze
This house has been transformed into an open-plan space with so much natural light. It epitomises ‘calm, cosy and fresh’ – referencing both the seaside and the countryside. It boasts a real sense of calm with its pared-down palette, mix of wood finishes, natural textures and soft, nautical shades. This style puts particular emphasis on natural materials and less-than-perfect shapes – a country house to unwind and relax in. It reflects simplicity – keeping things neat and simple. The open spaces symbolise inclusivity for anyone visiting and enjoying the vineyard views.
Modern, fresh and bright apartment
This one-bedroom apartment in heart of beautiful Stellenbosch has been transformed into a simple and modern space, with a twist of colour and texture. The main living space has windows that fill it with an abundance of natural light. Calming sage tones can sit alongside almost any color without competing, while a deep teal can enhance contrast in an entire space. Adding greens never feels wrong because we see this organically in nature.
